The American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth twice and flossing once each day. This is an important first step in maintaining and healthy mouth by reducing your chances of suffering cavities and gum disease.

While consistency is certainly important the quality of the oral hygiene products you use each day is also critical to the effectiveness of your oral hygiene routine. To help consumers identify the highest quality oral hygiene products the American Dental Association instituted their Seal of Acceptance program.

Before launching a new oral hygiene product, a manufacturer can voluntarily submit it to the ADA. The active ingredients will then be researched and tested for safety and its effectiveness as part of an oral hygiene routine. If the product meets the rigorous guidelines, it will receive certification for the Seal of Acceptance to be printed on the label.

The ADA also maintains an online index of approved oral hygiene products on their website. This allows consumers to take their time researching new oral hygiene products for their family.

If you live in the Pasadena, California, area and you need help finding a new oral hygiene product for your family, you can always call 626-793-2273 to speak to Dr. Robert E. Hansen Jr., DDS or a staff member at Hansen Dental Care.
